My work is autobiographical in nature, a form of visual diary-keeping. Often my projects are based on specific landscapes that I interact with. This series of paintings on found cigarette packages began while I was visiting Sofia, Bulgaria, and has continued in various other places I have traveled to. There are subtle differences to each package, for example, the smoke warning label on the side of each painting is sometimes in different languages. I want to acknowledge similarities in this world, making it feel smaller. These paintings are my way of doing this, and also act as souvenirs from moments of my life.
