"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."

-T.S. Eliot, from "Little Gidding", Four Quartets
'You Are Here' depicts elements from my hometown in Long Island over a period of several months. Many images stem from childhood memories, such as a little league baseball field, a fort built from sticks, and trees for climbing. They are painted from direct observation, linking my memory of the subject to the present moment. Additionally, portraits in the collection represent individuals living in Long Island, posed in locations that hold a special meaning to them. Rather than rely on my memory alone, these portraits offer different perspectives of the area.
